Ascanio – Vol I and Vol II by Alexandre Dumas

This vintage book contains both volumes of Alexandre Dumas’s 1843 historical novel, “Ascanio”.

It is the fictionalised story of Benvenuto Cellin’s time spent in France with his apprentice Ascanio; a passionate but troubled man, tormented by life under the tyranny of an unrighteous court. The court is that of François I in Fontainebleau and Paris. Cellini and Ascanio are both madly in love with Colombe, daughter of the Provost of Paris – thus sparking jealousies, plots and intrigue. Full of thrilling plot twists and villainous intrigue, this novel constitutes a must-read for fans of Dumas’s work, and would make for a worthy addition to any collection.

Alexandre Dumas (1802–1870) was a famous French writer. He is best remembered for his exciting romantic sagas, including “The Three Musketeers” and “The Count of Monte Cristo”. Despite making a great deal of money from his writing, Dumas was almost perpetually penniless thanks to his extravagant lifestyle. His novels have since been translated into nearly a hundred different languages, and have inspired over two hundred motion pictures.
